It's Here!
01-10-06 at 4:27 pm Today... the Food has arrived. In a ginormous box that was really heavy. I think part of the plan must be that you get all buff just carrying the box inside, the tricky bastards! I feel sorry for the fed-ex guy who had to carry upstairs to my apartment, he's probably like... damn people trying to lose weight with their boxes of heavy food. I'm a little overwhelmed by the amount of food that I got. It's for 5 weeks... so 35 breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack foods... that's a whole lot. I don't think i've seen an entire month's worth of food laid out like that before. I have no idea where to put it. I thought it was refrigerated or frozen which would have been good for me because both my fridge and freezer are big and empty.. but they're not. Which I guess is good for most people, but I don't have that much cabinet space, unless I jam all my dishes into one cabinet... but I have them set up all so nicely. And what do I do with all the "bad" food i already have.. I can't just throw away perfectly good unopened dry goods when there are starving people in the world, and I'm not gonna eat it.... so maybe I'll take it home or ship it to a sister? OVERWHELMED!!! And also, I didn't know when the food was gonna get here, so I went and bought some fruits and stuff for a kick ass salad... and I was almost a little bummed when I saw that the food box was waiting at my door, cause I was really looking forward to that salad... but in my intro literature it says that I can substitute stuff like that for other meals, as long as I'm careful with the portions.. which rocks! Um I think that was all one sentence which is ridonkulous. What else... Oh today was Science and Health day... which I enjoyed. Both classes are in the same building, so I don't have to move my car and I finish before two o'clock, which totally rocks. My science class makes me feel like I'm back in elementary school because of the way it's set up... which is totally cool for that class because it's to prepare me to teach. My health class also makes me feel like a 5th grader, but it's not cool because the teacher is nice but a little "here's what i expect, now turn to your neighbor and go over what i expect to make sure you understand." I am a grown-ass woman. If I can't understand a simple syllabus then I don't need to be in college. But I think overall the class will be okay if she doesn't make us do that every day. We also have to make a personal fitness plan and log 3 hours of exercise a week, for a total of 30 hours over the semester, which is a good motivator to get to UREC and workout. I went to UREC today to set up a fitness asessment and personal trainer session, which includes a equipment orientation and first work-out, all for the low low price of $35 dollars, but UREC only takes flex, which I didn't have, so I have to go back to finish the registration once I put some money in that account. But it was very encouraging, cause the two guys I talked to were really nice and not hideous to look at either. I can't believe that was only the second time in all of my time here that I've even been in that building. That is sad. For me to have had a completely free kick ass gym at my disposal and not to have taken advantage of it is just wrong. But I'm gonna change that!
